33 St Bernard's Crescent (May 2009, November 2009 & January 2010)"33 St Bernard's Crescent is an elegant residence in a truly perfect location. I have stayed here 3 times in the last year and have no doubt that its owner Jill will achieve plenty of repeat business. The apartment is furnished to an extremely high standard and its decor is very tasteful. As an owner Jill is attentive, yet not intrusive and the apartment is very much your own. Its location makes it an excellent base for exploring Edinburgh too. Step out of the front door and you are surrounded by some of Edinburghs finest architecture, walk just a couple of hundred meters and you enter Stockbridge high street. Stockbridge is a joy with its cosmopolitan mix of shops and exciting buzz. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee bars and pubs too. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to others and already have." M Cotter, Botswana |
33 St Bernards Crescent (July 2009)“Staying at 33 St Bernard’s Crescent, Edinburgh was the highlight of our 2009 trip to Scotland. In the heart of Stockbridge, in a beautiful Georgian street, surrounded by other elegant streets and parks, with the local food, wine and design shops within easy walking distance, and very close to the city. The apartment itself was fresh, airy and quiet, and its recent refurbishment gave a contemporary touch to the original Georgian style. It was far more spacious than a motel or hotel room, and had all of the facilities needed for a longer stay, including separate bedroom, bathroom, lounge, and a stylishly designed kitchen arrangement that contained the dish washer, fridge, and clothes washing machine. Given its location, the quality of its inclusions, and spaciousness, its rates were extremely good value for money. Also, having Jill as a welcoming, friendly and helpful Owner who was nearby meant that we were well cared for, while we had the flexibility and space that comes with a self catering apartment” JD, Canberra, Australia |
33 St Bernards Crescent (August 2009)"Before I arrived at 33 St Bernard’s Crescent I spent weeks looking at the photos on the website wondering if it really would be that well equipped, spacious and elegant. I was not disappointed. ‘Home from home’ is something of a cliché but, in this case, it is true. This flat provided us with the perfect, tranquil base in which to escape the vigour of Edinburgh during festival time. Hope to see you again this year! " T Muviel, UK |
33 St Bernards Crescent (August 2009)"We arrived at the flat by taxi and as arranged, Jill was there to meet us. It was a lovely Saturday, in mid August 2009 and the sun was flooding in through the huge sash windows into the spacious lounge/diner. We had come to Edinburgh to enjoy the various festivals, our daughter had come up with a show from her university and she was to stay at the flat too. Jill showed us around the compact flat, which has a bathroom with separate monsoon shower and bath and lovely green slate flooring. There is a double bedroom at the rear of the property which is very quite at night and the bed offers a very good night’s sleep! We found the flat to be very clean, warm and homely, situated in a lovely part of Edinburgh near to Stockbridge with a good range of shops including a 1st class butcher and great deli. We would highly recommend staying here as it’s on several bus routes, within walking distance of the city centre but far enough away not to be noisy at night! " C. Rose, UK |
33 St Bernards Crescent (September 2009)“When we left 33 for the last time it was as if we had handed over the keys to “our flat” and it was strange walking by from our son’s flat later in the day knowing that we had no connection to it anymore, it still felt like ”ours”. We were delighted with every aspect of the flat; it seemed that you had thought of any possible thing that the occupants could need or want – right down to the telephone number of a local taxi company! I have just re-read the web pages I printed when we were looking for a place and it made me very nostalgic – it gave a very true description of “our” flat and the “cupboard” kitchen was even more amazing in real life than the photo – it was unbelievable how many appliances, etc it held while being so unobtrusive in the living space!!The flat at 33 St Bernard’s Crescent was a huge plus in our enjoyment of our stay in Stockbridge. It truly was a home away from home, lacking in nothing when it came to comfort and appearance and the “cupboard kitchen” held every appliance found in a full-sized kitchen, as well as dishes, cutlery, etc.The flat is in a lovely location and the village shopping area is just two blocks away, with a Scotmid, fishmonger, bakeries, post office, etc as well as cafes and shops for ‘browsing’. There are lovely walks in any direction, including Edinburgh city centre about 15 minutes away.We have rented flats on several European trips over the years, but when we turned over the keys and left 33 St Bernard’s Crescent, for the first time ever, we felt sad at having to leave this place that had felt like “ours” for a week! Every comment here is sincere, because we really did feel an attachment like never before and I just wish we had a lifestyle that would allow us to travel back and forth to Edinburgh and book 33 St Bernard’s Crescent regularly! However, we will just have to settle for our memories of that wonderful time. Wishing you every success with your future plans and many happy visitors to the flat." MacDonald, Toronto, Canada |
33 St Bernards Crescent (October 2009) “I came across 33 St Bernard’s Crescent while researching some family history for a trip my wife and I were planning to Edinburgh in October 2009. My Great Grandfather had married a Scottish lass in 1919, whose family owned the property and they also resided there for a couple of years during which time my Grandmother was also born. Eventually they moved to Australia to start a new life. I was most excited when researching the property on the internet to find that it was available to stay in as holiday accommodation.
